Psychology lecturer and psychotherapist Dr Sonja Falck said the “divisive and humiliating” anti-IQ terms are hate crime’s “last taboo”. Dr Falck, who also runs a Harley-Street psychotherapy practice warned that the harmful words should be categorised in the same way as homophobic, racial, and religious slurs are under UK hate speech legislation.
A specialist in individuals with very high IQ, Dr Falck has spent eight years researching the discrimination against them, and interviewing high-ability adults about their own experiences. During 20 hour and a half interviews of which 16 were Mensa members Dr Falck asked individuals about their experience, such as how they had come to realise that they had a high IQ. She then conducted a contextual analysis of literature and other research to identify themes, one of which was the idea of belonging or not belonging.
D r Falck added that all her interviewees had felt like this at some point in their lives.

Who knew dating a geek could be so confusing or controversial? GeekMom Ruth ‘s post concerning Alyssa Bereznak’s online rant about her date with Jon Finkel , was just the tip of the iceberg. I’d bet every geek out there has had to deal with an “Alyssa” from time to time in the awkwardness of dating, mind you few of those experiences are made public on a blog.
Geek is a very broad term and really only means that someone is passionately involved with something. Geeks come in all shapes and sizes and their interests are incredibly diverse, just ask Scott Johnson the creator of The 56 Geek Project. It got me thinking, what advice would I give my children if they ever found themselves dating a person they didn’t understand? Conversation on a first date can be excruciating, wouldn’t it be nice to have a little insight into the interests of the person across the table?
Sometimes breaking the ice is all it takes to get a geek to break out of their shell and become comfortable with the situation they are in.

This was the first show produced by the Fox Television Studios sub-division Fox For the fourth season, the producers modified the formula to include an extra team consisting of a male “beauty” and a female “geek”. For the fifth season, the beauties and geeks competed against each other at first, and teams of one beauty and one geek were not selected until the end of episode three.
Each beauty lives together in a room with her geek during the course of the competition. The winners of the challenges select two teams to compete against each other in a pure “quiz show” type question and answer session: the team with fewer correct answers gets eliminated.

Lots and lots of UK premiere dates and returning shows for the first half of the year and beyond! Don Cheadle stars in this tongue-in-cheek HBO show about what really caused the infamous stock market crash in Tim Allen sitcom. The first 3 seasons aired on Sky One but then was dropped. Picked up by E4 then dropped.
Serena Williams is on board too, having recently announced her engagement to Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian whose child she is expecting, meanwhile Emma Watson is dating tech entrepreneur William Knight. While the powerful and wealthy of the world choosing to date other powerful and wealthy people is no revelation, the preference for hoodie and trainers wearing, data-obsessed, computer analysts over tortured songwriters or brawny actors is.
But this continuing trend of tech-stars shacking up with the world’s most desirable women is likely to have more to do with a cultural shift than Heard et al merely following the money, despite what the angry men of the alt-right might have you believe they also, of course, have plenty moolah of their own. Rather, it hammers home in stark terms the extent to which technology is now put on a pedestal – along with its pioneers. The suspicion, depressing to people over a certain age, that tech has assumed the cultural currency that once belonged to art is hard to ignore when you see the modern day equivalent of Bill Gates exuding the sexual prowess of a young Mick Jagger.
There are even dating services now to cater for the demand for tech geeks, like Linx , the boutique Silicon Valley social network which boasts ‘technology influencer VIP customers’ who are all “college educated non-smokers”, and need to complete interviews and homework as part of the vetting process. Agency founder Amy Andersen claims that tech founders make for, “fabulous partners” but warns you’ll need to ” bring your A game ” if you want to marry one. But despite the Hunger Games- style competition for tech big shots, are the real world equivalents of Leonard from the Big Bang Theory seeing any benefit from this zeitgeist dating trend?
Are university computer societies suddenly seeing an upturn in applicants? Are Steve Jobs-style suddenly turtlenecks selling like hotcakes? Are the geeks finally, truly inheriting the earth in the way that most men would want that to mean?
