THE GREAT PAINTER CONTINUES TO ENRICH OUR TOLEDO

PROGRAMME | EL GRECO 2014

El Greco 2014 Foundation has been set up in order to organise the commemorative events for the Fourth Centenary of the Death of El Greco. The Honorary Presidency of the Foundation is held by Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain. The Foundation itself is a public body set up upon the initiative of the Regional Government of Castile-La Mancha, the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports and the Archbishopric of Toledo. Help in setting up the Foundation was also provided by the Local Council of Toledo, the Chapter of Toledo Cathedral and Toledo City Hall. The Trust is made up of the Tourist Board of the Madrid Region, Madrid City Council and some of the most important cultural institutions, both in Spain and worldwide, such as the Museo del Prado, the Royal Academy of History and the Royal Academy of San Fernando, the Metropolitan Museum of New York and the National Gallery of Washington.

The Foundation has an Executive Committee, which is entrusted with drawing up working agendas and projects and implementing them once they have been approved by the Trust. The Executive Committee also possesses the powers established in Article 24.7 of the Foundation's Bylaws. The management of sponsorship measures is carried out by means of a Consortium , which is made up of the following members: the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, Ministry of the Treasury and Public Administration, the Regional Government of Castile-La Mancha, Toledo City Hall and Toledo County Council (Diputación Provincial). The Foundation also has an Advisory Board, which has a consultative purpose.

The Foundation is presided over by Gregorio Marañón, Paloma Acuña is the General Coordinator and the General Manager is Jesús Carrobles.
